I trained in realism and portraiture for a long time, until I felt the urge to introduce more boldness and expression into my work, beyond perfection. After sustained experimenting, I developed a method that finally let me achieve that vision pretty effortlessly.
I call it the 'ground-up' method because it literally starts from the ground — all the way to the last brushstroke you see on the surface.
In my school I teach you that same method - because it really works.
You'll master realism first, then material and mark-making, then learn how to integrate them. The method gives you direction while you create and helps you loosen up and enjoy every part of the painting process.
The best part? The "Ground-Up" method is open to individual interpretation. No two paintings will ever be the same. You won't learn my style. You'll learn an approach to push your own practice where you want it to go.

Hi, I'm Rosso
After years of painting within the limits of realism, I developed a way to merge classical skill with expressive freedom — a process that reignited my creativity and completely transformed my work and career.
I began teaching this process online and in person in 2020. In 2024, I founded Rosso Art School to bring my entire method together in one place.
