After teaching in-person workshops across the world, I saw firsthand what artists were truly struggling with. Not technique alone — but how to bring everything together. Composition, figure, colour, abstraction, emotional presence. How to move beyond copying and create work so powerful and visually compelling that it sells effortlessly.

Most realist schools teach you how to construct likeness — proportion, value, skin tones, structure. That's essential. But a resolved painting requires more than that.
It requires understanding how to develop all the rest — composition, materials, backgrounds — with the same level of awareness and control.
Without that, you're left working it out alone. You hesitate. You freeze — afraid to ruin what you've built. Or you finish with paintings that don't reflect the work you put in.
In my school, I teach the entire process — from idea to solid portrait foundations, from layered mixed-media grounds to resolving the painting as a whole.

Even after refining realist portraiture, one question remained: how do you solve the rest of the painting once the face works? 
That question shaped the next phase of my practice. I continued refining portraiture while expanding my process — incorporating new media and techniques, mixing a traditional realist approach with experimentation.
As I began sharing this evolving process online, the response grew into a global community of over 190,000 artists and collectors on Instagram. Rosso Art School was born from that demand — artists asking for a method they could apply to their own work.
The school brings that method together in one place. It isn’t separate from my practice. It’s an extension of it.
