Thinking about a custom portrait?
Perhaps there’s someone you love, a moment you want to remember, or a photograph that deserves to become something more.
I create original, hand-painted portraits tailored to each person and story. Below, you can explore examples of my work and the different styles your portrait could take.
Painted to last, painted for you
Every commission begins with a person.
I paint a commissioned portrait the way I paint everything: proportion, likeness, flesh that feels real — that comes first. Once I’m happy with that, I like to introduce more abstract elements, whether it’s a bright, colourful background, an unfinished body, or a layered and intricate surface.
What you receive is a painting in which you can truly feel the person you love — whether it’s a child, grandchild, friend, husband or wife.
Not a perfect copy of a photograph in paint, but a presence.
How a commission works
1 · Enquiry & conversation
Tell me who the painting is for and what you have in mind. We talk subject, size, palette and timing until the brief feels right.
2 · Composition & approval
I work up the composition from your reference photographs or a sitting and share it with you. Once we’ve agreed on the composition and direction, I begin the final painting.
3 · Painting & delivery
I paint in oils and mixed media, sending progress along the way. The finished work is varnished, and shipped to you ready to hang. Framing is available on request.
